blythealizer on puchicollective - blythe makeup experimentation

The Blythe-a-lizer is an interactive tool to help customizers and non-customizers visualize color combinations for customs before diving into painting or buying hair for a Blythe (I started working on it as a way to play with a blythe while at work, and just kept adding options to her).

Amazing Melissa! I would kill for your clever technical skills. Very definitely the bestest, coolest thing to hit the Blythe world forever.

Wow, that’s a lot of fun! My next project was going to be a Blythe that you can interact with over the Internet, but now I don’t need to do that.

So you know Flash MX? Are you a web designer?

  10. 10Melissa

chantastic - yep, I work as a web developer during the day and I teach an intermediate Flash class at a multimedia school in the evenings.

My flash skills are pretty basic - I’m actually just starting to try to expand my ActionScript repertoire.

you should absolutely still make your interactive Blythe!

    Melissa—

This is BRILLIANT!!! What a great tool for customizers/Blythers to utilize during the decision-making process. If not that, it’s a whole lot of fun to tinker with (like I’ve been doing for the past several minutes)

Martin will love this! Must remember to show him tonight. ;)

  12. 12hazymat

Wow. I’m sure it’s a really useful customising tool, but more to the point I can pull a pull string even when I’m at work or visiting a client!

  13. 13Melisser

Fabulous! I’ve been playing with it & now have SO many new ideas!
I’m so vain, I think the sample girl above looks like me! HA!

i love it!! something we all can use. great stuff melissa :) .

  25. 25loretta

I love playing with it but there is one thing that bugs me. . . you can’t save it or send it as a pic. I found a great combo and I wanted to email it to the person customizing my doll for me and there doesn’t seem to be a way to do it.

It is fun to play with though.

  26. 26Melissa

hi loretta - I am working on an option that will export your final combo out as a PDF, but in the mean time, you can always hit the Print Screen Key (it’s usually right next to the F12 key) and paste it into your paint program for saving.

  27. 27Linda

Loretta - If you’re on a Mac, hit “Shift-Apple-3″ to capture the whole screen, or “Shift-Apple-4″ to get a crosshair - then click & drag over the area you want to capture.

  28. 28Miffy

Melissa, great work and thanks so much for sharing. Have a great time clicking so many functions. Just curious to know the face mould of this model?

  29. 29Gracie

    xxx

  30. 30Melissa

miffy - I drew the face in illustrator, but I was using a kenner as my guide.

  31. 31Dandelion

How fun is this!! LOVE it!

  32. 32Denise (milkdolly)

how cool is this! thank you Melissa, very useful too!

  33. 33Leah

I’m enjoying the Blythe-a-lizer! When I get tired of trying out eye shadow, lip and hair color I use the “pip” to drive others around me crazy XD It’s another great way to get Blythe into my life!

  34. 34Bambi

Oh this is soooo FUN!!! I’ll be playing with it for hours!! I know it has the purpose to test before customs, but I just like it anyway XP!! ^_^

  35. 35funksoulavette

This is so cool and useful. :)

  36. 36Jane

A great idea! Just brilliant. Thanks!

  37. 37garryola

WOW! I love it! I’m waiting for my first Blythe to arrive and have I got stuff planned for her now!
Imagine 35 years ago at Kenner when they said “She’s a dud, turn ‘er off”, they would never have imagined.
